Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday inaugurated Gorewada Zoo and Wildlife Rescue Centre that has been set up to treat an array of injured and orphaned animals, rare species of birds, snakes etc. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Finance and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya, Principal Secretary to CM Pravin Pardeshi, Forest Department Secretary Vikas Kharge, Divisional Secretary Anup Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests Virendra Tiwari and other officials.

After inaugurating the Gorewada Zoo and Wildlife Rescue Center, the Chief Minister and Forest Minister enjoyed safari. From today, the Gorewada jungles have been thrown open to general public for safari. Fadnavis curiously watched six leopards kept in the Rescue Center and also inaugurated Wildlife Hospital and Administrative Building.

Fadnavis inaugurates Gorewada Wildlife Rescue Center (1)In Gorewada Wildlife Rescue Center, spread over 25 hectares, dozens of large cages have been built for housing tigers, leopards, bears, foxes, deer, venomous and non-venomous snakes, birds. The Gorewada Wildlife Rescue Center will become one of the important centres in the country once the Gorewada Zoo is developed on par with international standards.It will emerge as third one in the State and has a hospital, pathology lab, operation theater etc.
