Ex-MP Chitralekha Raje Bhonsale consigned to elements

Former Member of Parliament from Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency, Chitralekha Raje Bhosale was consigned to elements here in the city on Aug 17, 2015. Prior to her last rites, many dignitaries visited her residence to have her last sight. They included Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari among others.

Those who joined her funeral procession included ex-MP Vilas Muttemwar, ex-Minister Anil Deshmukh, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Pravin Datke, MLA Vikas Kumbhare, ex-MP Banwarilal Purohit, ex-Minister Satish Chaturvedi and many active members from political circle.

A condolence meeting was held under the leadership of Anil Deshmukh, and her demise was described as a great loss to the city. All unanimously said, the departure of Chitralekha Raje has created a vacuum which cannot be filled, but she will however be always remembered in the field of politics and service to people.

It may be recalled that Chitralekha Raje breathed her last at the age of 74 on Sunday at junior Bhosale Palace in Mahal. She was elected MP from Ramtek for 12th Lok Sabha on Congress ticket. She was born to Shrimant Kadam of Badoda in Gujarat on February 26, 1941 and was married to the royal family of Nagpur. She was ever active in her social and political life. Her political career began as a Nagarsewak and she was elected twice from Nagar Bhavan ward. She also carried out various responsibilities in the Congress organization. She had remained associated with various social organizations.
