Enraged investors go on rampage, pelt stones on Hudkeshwar police

One cop receives head injury as nine duped investors, including eight women, demand handing over of accused fraudster to them.

Nagpur: The simmering anger of investors who felt duped by a Hudkeshwar-based company exploded on Friday afternoon with cops bearing the brunt. Nine of the investors, including eight women, vociferously demanded handing over of the accused company Director to them. But when police failed to meet their demand, the investors went on rampage and pelted stones on Hudkeshwar Police Station inflicting head injuries to a Constable. The accused investors also ransacked the office of the company.

Notably, on December 4 afternoon, hundreds of investors had gathered in front of office of Alina Employment Resources situated at Amrapali Nagar in Hudkeshwar. The company is run by accused Hemlata Chirkute who had allegedly lured them with high returns on their investments.

However, Hemlata defaulted and failed to pay the high-returns as promised. This sparked outrage and the situation went tense. Some of the enraged investors namely Rupa Sumit Ashthankar (27), resident of Nari, Geeta Madhukar Godbole (45) of Itwari, Rina Prakash Lokhande (23) of Rameshwari, Pranali Dattatray Pande (21) of Jagnath Budhwari, Manoj Bhola Sangode (30), Abhilasha Manoj Sangode of Wanadongri, Asmita Manoj Hattimare (23) of Uday Nagar Square, Deepali Dinesh Paunikar (27) and Dinesh Suresh Paunikar (31) of Lalganj went on rampage and ransacked office of the company.

The accused investors also demanded handing over of Hemlata to them. When the police failed to meet their demand, the nine accused investors started pelting stones on Police Station. One of the police constables Prakash Lunge was hit by the pelted stones and received head injuries. However, deployment of additional police force later defused the situation.

Hudkeshwar PSI A G Ingole, based on a complaint, booked the nine accused investors under Sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 353, 336, 427 of IPC read with Sub-Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act and mounted an in-depth investigation into the matter.
