STUMPS – DAY 2

India 85-4 (40 ovs) vs England 330

England’s bowlers were once again much better than their Indian counterparts. While India were ready to wait and concentrated on bowling a tight line and length, England’s bowlers went in for the kill and were rewarded with four wickets in the post tea session.

Anderson once again tormented the Indians with a magnificent spell of three for 24 in nine overs, while Swann took one for nine in seven overs after he had made 56 with the bat. A memorable debut for Root, who played a patient knock of 73 to guide his team out of trouble in the company of Prior, who made 57. So the day belonged to England completely and they look the favourites at this stage to make it 3-1.

India are in complete tatters at 85 for four in 40 overs with MS Dhoni on eight and Kohli on 11. Tendulkar failed to fire with the bat and was bowled for two by Anderson, who also accounted for Gambhir (37).

Anderson had given England a good start as he bowled Sehwag for a duck in the first over of the innings. Pujara was unlucky to be given caught at short leg for 26 as the ball missed the gloves and hit his forearm.
