Engineering students get to showcase their internship work at VNIT symposium

In a first, the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) here has organized one of its kind two-day Students’ Symposium’14 on Saturday. The symposium aims at providing productive platform to the 130 undergraduate students for presenting and sharing technical information based on their internship/training in reputed industrial, R&D and academic organisations. The proceedings will be circulated to the industries and R&D institutes all over India. Over 45 enthusiastic groups of presenters will showcase their internship work during the symposium which ends on Sunday.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. V. Ramaswamy (Ex-Executive Director, SAIL, SALEM and currently professor at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore). Dr. K. Bhanusankara Rao (Steel Chair Professor, MGIT, Hyderabad), Dr. G. Madhusudan Reddy (Scientist, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad), were the guests of honour.

In his speech, Dr. K. Bhanusankara Rao, announced that the presenters of 3 best seminars in the Symposium will be sponsored by Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), New Delhi to exhibit their work in reputed international conferences abroad.

Prof. H M Suryawanshi (Dean-R&C VNIT), Professor G P Singh (Dean Students’ Welfare VNIT), Professor D R Peshwe (TEQIP Co-ordinator VNIT), Professor A R Ballal (Convener) were prominently present.  Palak Marwah conducted the proceedings of the programme.

The event has been organised in association with the Indian Institute of Metals, Nagpur Chapter and supported by TEQIP-II.
