Nagpur: A 73-year old man on a morning stroll was knocked dead by a recklessly driven Maruti Omni Van near Patankar Square in Jaripatka on Tuesday. The driver of the killer vehicle has been arrested.
The deceased Arjun Shambhuji Meshram of Vishal Nagar left his home as usual for a morning walk on Tuesday. When Arjun reached near Patankar Square, he was talking to his friend on the roadside footpath. But the safer place of footpath too proved fatal for Arjun as a rashly driven Maruti Omni Van hit him with forceful impact. As a result, the frail Arjun received multiple injuries and died on the spot. On being informed, Jaripatka cops reached the spot and after preliminary investigation, sent Arjun’s body for autopsy.
Woman PSI Kinnake, based on a complaint lodged by Gaurishankar Dharamdas Rodge (73), brother-in-law of deceased Arjun, has booked the driver of Omni Van Sujit Meghchand Kolte (29) of Hudco Colony under Sections 304(A) of IPC read with Sub-Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and placed him under arrest.
