In a latest development, EgyptAir has confirmed that the Egyptian armed forces have recovered debris of Flight MS804 from the Mediterranean Sea that went missing yesterday. According to EgyptAir, the Egyptian armed forces located wreckage and passenger belongings 290 km off the coast of Alexandria this morning. This comes after several conflicting reports published earlier.

Military units of Greece, Egypt, France and UK are participating in the search operation to sift the area for the wreckage and the black box of the plane, according to reports.

Earlier, there were multiple reports claiming that debris from the missing aircraft had been discovered as EgyptAir had also confirmed but officials later denied the reports. However, the latest reports clarify that the debris is indeed from the missing plane.

The flight carrying 66 people was en route from Paris to Cairo when it lost contact with the radar and vanished early on Thursday. Press release posted on social media had conveyed the news of the disaster. Authorities later said it was likely the plane had crashed. Families of the passengers still await answers as the black box is yet to be discovered.
