Education occupies centre-stage in Assembly’s Question Hour on Day-5 of Winter Session

Education scenario in State took the centre-stage in the Question Hour on the fifth day of Winter Session. Assembly was flooded with 26 Starred Questions on school education, sports, higher & technical education, medical education, Marathi language, cultural affairs etc. Of the 26 questions, 10 were of State-level, 3 of Vidarbha and 2 related to Nagpur District.

The questions dealt the issues of availability of sports complexes in State, availability of bogus Pharmacy Degrees in large scale, lack of toilets in many schools, part-time teachers, recruitment of security guards in Yavatmal’s Government Medical College and Hospital, extension of time limit for backward class students in submitting caste certificates and scanning by Maharashtra State Technical Education Directorate, starting of Sub-Centre of Gondwana Gadchiroli University in Chimur, problems due to non-working of X-Ray machines and closure of Medicine Department  in Nagpur’s Government Medical College and Hospital, making hundreds of temporary teachers in Government Medical Colleges on permanent basis, and other education issues.
