The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) this year conducted two CAP rounds and final counseling round for admissions in first year engineering. Many of the private colleges seats remained vacant, and even the seats of state government-run aided colleges saw their seats not being taken up fully. To cover the shortfall DTE has started one more round to fill the gap. However, the admissions through this round will only be for autonomous colleges and state government-run aided colleges.

The private colleges are not allowed to take in part in this 4th round of admissions. According to the notification that was issued regarding the admission process by the DTE did not mention about the 4th round.

This year also the engineering admissions saw huge shortfall in seats being taken up. Autonomous colleges, state government-run aided colleges and university-managed institutes admissions were conducted in three phase of two cap rounds and one counseling round. But DTE has taken a move to conduct one more round to fill the vacant seats prevailing in Autonomous colleges and state government-run aided colleges.

Private colleges contend that it is partiality by the department. They opined that private colleges should have been also included in the proceeding round. According to information this round will be concluded by August 13, thereafter the exact vacant seats status will become clear.
