The education hub in Nagpur is set to get another reputed school from equally reputed educational institute. Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation, Pune is establishing a primary school in Nagpur. The schools established by the Foundation across Maharashtra are known as Vikhe Patil Memorial Schools (VPMS). The world class primary school in Nagpur will be set up on Hingna Road in a 5-acre land just behind Rashtradoot Farm and the construction will begin within 2-3 months. Earlier, Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation had opened schools in Pune, Nasik, Ahmednagar and other places. The Chairman of Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation is Dr Ashok Patil.
Dr. Ashok Patil is the first Indian to become a President of International Association of Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health (IAAMRH). Before being elected as President, he has served the Association in various capacities. Dr. Ashok Patil along with Magsaysay Award Winner Padmshree Dr Rajanikant Arole founded the Indian Chapter of the Association in 1988, under the auspices of Pravara Medical Trust, Loni in Maharashtra. Under the leadership of Dr Patil, the Indian Chapter has organized an Asian Congress in “Innovative Approaches to Rural Health” in January 1993 and an “International Conference on Woman and Child – Health, Empowerment, Rights and Development” in November 1998, in Loni, which were well attended by representatives from all over the world.
