
Nagpur: In a shocking incident reported from the Wadi police station limits, a 60-year-old disabled man was allegedly murdered after he resisted a theft attempt at his residence late Sunday night. The brutal crime has sparked fear among residents in the locality.
The deceased has been identified as Sahasram Bajirao Kevat (60), who lived alone near Swami Samarth Temple in Krishnanagar area of Wadadhmana–Surabardi. Due to his physical disability, Kevat reportedly survived on government assistance.
According to police, the incident occurred between 12.30 am and 1 am on April 13, 2026. Investigations revealed that the accused had entered Kevat’s house with the intention of stealing cash.
The accused have been identified as Vilas Subhash Chaudhary (27), Jitendra Santosh Waghare (25), and Praveen Dhillan Chavan (25), all residents of Surabardi. Police said the trio had allegedly hatched a plan to commit the theft.
During the attempt, Kevat reportedly confronted the intruders and tried to resist the robbery. Enraged by the resistance, the accused allegedly smothered him with a pillow and strangled him, resulting in his death.
Following a complaint lodged by Reema Hemant Patel (22), the Wadi Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police have arrested one of the accused, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining two suspects. Further investigation into the case is in progress.
