Deputy Director of Education Pardhi, finally takes hold of student safety in schools

Nagpur: Deputy Director of Education in Nagpur, Anil Pardhi has finally released a notification for safety of children in the schools of city. The notification has been released after CBSE warned that the schools which do not follow the norms may go through disaffiliation from the board.

The released notification states that the schools must have CCTV Cameras, concreted compounds and that no outsider must allowed to enter school premises. It also stated that if any person, other than guardians, has to meet a student, it must be done in presence of teacher or staff. However, no information has been given that what actions will be taken against the violators.

Moreover, the notice has also suggested that schools should also strive to promote a better understanding amongst their teachers and staff on the laws protecting the safety, security and interests of the students and device means to take immediate remedial and punitive action against such violations. The staff members should also be educated to recognize their protective obligation towards students and to ensure safety and well being of children in schools.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines in 2014 regarding preventive mechanisms and procedures for institutionalizing a system to ensure safety and security of children in schools.
