Deolapar cops seize 60 cattle being transported for slaughter

Acting on secret inputs, Deolapar police chased and stopped two container trucks coming from Madhya Pradesh and seized total 60 cattle including cows, bullocks and progenies dumped cruelly in the vehicles. The cattle were being transported for slaughter. Cops have arrested six persons including drivers of the two trucks and their accomplices.

A team of Deolapar police led by API Suresh Mattami carried out nakabandi on National Highway No. 7 after they received a tip off that two container trucks (MH-46/F 3669 and MH-31/AP 1590) coming from Seoni (MP) were transporting the cattle illegally for slaughter purpose. As soon as the police team saw the two trucks, they signalled them to stop. But instead of stopping the trucks, the drivers raced their vehicles in Nagpur direction in order to dodge police action but were chased by the cops. The two trucks were successfully stopped by the cops near Deolapar hospital. Both the trucks were inspected by the police team and were found transporting total 60 cattle including cows, bullocks and progenies. The animals were dumped at the small place cruelly.

The cops immediately detained the drivers of the two container trucks namely Akbar Shah Hanif Shah (31) of Nagpur, Sheikh Noornazar Sheikh Ibrahim (23) of Nagpur and their four accomplices Gurpindersingh Paramjit Singh Pinder (27), Tayyab Ali Ahmed Ali (25) of Amravati, Sheikh Hasan Sheikh Ibrahim of Nagpur and Rakesh Sevakram Shahu (25) of Nagpur. The seized cattle were worth Rs 6 lakh and the two trucks worth Rs 50 lakh.

The arrested six accused were booked under Sections 11(1)(G)(D)(C) of Prevention Cruelty to Animals Act read with Maharashtra Protection of Animals Act.
