Nagpur: A deer was found dead in the field of one Dilip Rangari near a nullah on Nagardhan-Manpur road. On inspection, it was established that the animal was shot dead. Forest Officer D Khobragade said that further investigation into the matter was on and they were looking for the culprits.

Since Ramtek is surrounded by dense forests, wild animals wander into nearby villages in search of water. The jungle is a home to large number of deer, who also come to the villages to quench their thirst. The hunters take advantage of this and kill the animals.

As per information, the villagers of Nagardhan had got hold of three persons, who were suspiciously roaming in the area, in the night of 18 June.

They handed them over the three to police. However, police allegedly freed the three persons without doing thorough investigation. When contacted, police officials refused to comment on the matter.
