Deepak Bajaj denied pre-arrest bail

Nagpur: The judge of special court of Prevention of Corruption Act KGRathi has dismissed anticipatory bail plea of secretary of Jaripatka”s SindhuEducation Society and principal of Mahatma Gandhi Centennial High School Deepak Khubchand Bajaj, who is accused of amassing property by way of corruption.

Deepak Bajaj gets salary of 76,733 from government”s treasury as principal of Mahatma Gandhi Centennial High School. Due to this, he is public servant under section 2(C)(1) of Prevention of Corruption Act. By misusing his post, he was making financial gain for himself and his family by charging various fees from students of all schools and colleges coming under SindhuEducation Society since many years. He was taking bribe in name of donations from teachers and staff in all schools to give employment. Similarly, he was receiving various grants from government in form of aid and using them for his family.

Anti-Corruption Bureau”s superintendent Rajeev Jain had received secret information that property amassed by Bajaj by unfair means was kept in principal”s bungalow “Saikrupa” in Mahatma Gandhi Centennial High School”s premises located on KCBajaj Road inJaripatka. On the basis of this information, Jain obtained search warrant from court and raided bungalow on September 24, 2015.

Illegal asset of 2.75 crore

During search of Deepak Bajaj”s residence, school office, society office and other premises, movable and immovable property of 18,15,493 lakh cash and domestic equipment worth 2,69,10,365 crore was found. The ACB sleuths again searched Sindhu EducationSociety”s office, SindhuEducationEmployees Credit Cooperative Society”s office and printing press in office premises on September 29 to collect evidence and found 13,86,616 cash kept in secret locker of credit cooperative society.

Anti Corruption Bureau”s team conducted raid on September 24 evening. As he had prior idea of raid, Deepak Bajaj disappeared with his daughter Dimpi Bajaj. While disappearing, both took away gold, silver, cash and property documents from house in a car, the Anti Corruption Bureau has learnt. Dimpi is treasurer of SindhuEducationSociety. His wife is head mistress of Omkarlal SindhuHighSchool and also a public servant. She stays in premises of SindhuEducationSociety premises.

Deepak Bajaj is also public servant and secretary of Bharat Sindhu Multi Purpose Society and DRDFamily Trust. Apart from this, he is into business of Garima Cine Light.

Land received from government

The premises of Sindhu EducationSociety has been given by government on lease. Sindhu Education Society runs Mahatma Gandhi Centennial HighSchool, Omkarlal SindhuHighSchool, Mahatma Gandhi Centennial Sindhi Hindi Primary School, Gajanan Maharaj HighSchool, Katol and others.

Nature of offences

Offences under section 13(1)(E), 13(2), 13(1)(D) of Prevention of Corruption Act has been lodged at Jaripatka police station against Bajaj onSeptember 26.

Additional government pleader Girish Dube appeared for government while Adv Avinash Gupta appeared for accused Deepak Bajaj. Investigation officer is police inspector Ramakant Kokate. Transactions worth crores

During search of Deepak Bajaj”s residence, 26 chits in his own hand writing were found in his bedroom. These chits have details of amounts given to others on interest. The total of these amounts is mind-boggling. Receipts of purchases of 97 valuables were found from bedroom alone. The total of these receipts is 10,57,51,069 crore.
