Dead cop booked for stealing cash, ornaments worth Rs 27 lakh from Ganeshpeth Maalkhana

Nagpur News: In a shocking development that would lead to far reaching consequences, a constable attached to Ganeshpeth Police Station Maalkhana (Storage Room) has been booked for misappropriating and stealing gold-silver jewelleries, cash and other valuables collectively worth Rs 27 lakh in a well-planned manner. The constable Rajan Liladhar Kaole, resident of Old Bagadganj, indulged in his illegal but equally audacious acts between 2007 and 7.7.2013. However, the police constable has since passed away. After the investigation into the matter was completed, PSI Sheikh has registered an offence under Sections 409, 420 against the deceased Rajan Kaole at Ganeshpeth Police Station.

According to police, constable Rajan Kaole was posted in the Maalkhana of Ganeshpeth Police Station in 2007. He worked there till July 7, 2013. During the period of posting in Maalkhana (Storage Room where a cache of material, cash seized from criminals is kept), Rajan hatched a conspiracy. Conspiracy to replace genuine gold-silver jewelleries with fake ones, and pilfered cash to the tune of lakhs of rupees. However, the plot got exposed when Rajan was transferred from Ganeshpeth Police Station to other place. Subsequently, a thorough investigation into Rajan’s illegal acts was ordered. However, during investigation period, Rajan passed away. But the probe continued in order to pull out more skeletons from the constable’s cupboard. After the enquiry was completed, Rajan Kaole was formally booked on the charges of embezzlement and theft of gold-silver ornaments, cash and other valuables collectively worth Rs 27 lakh. Now, Ganeshpeth police have launched fresh investigation into the matter in order to blow the cover from the entire episode.
