Nagpur: On the last day of Winter Session of Legislative Assembly-2016, Principal Secretary, Maharashtra Legislative Secretariat Anant Khalse has issued a certificate of appreciation to DCP (Traffic) Smarthna Patil.
This year, keeping in mind the security threat perception, no vehicle was allowed inside the Vidhan Sabha premises. Everybody including the Chief Minister had to walk from the main gate to the Vidhan Sabha premises. The separate parking spots for vehicles of VVIP, VIPS, Officials and Journalists and retrieving of the vehicle from the allocated spots was a herculean effort.
Managing traffic of the second capital is not an easy task. With almost every citizen having a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler, the number of vehicles plying on every road seems to be increasing by the day.
To add to the woes of the city Traffic Department is the cementing work of many roads in almost every side of Nagpur. This necessarily means the deviation from the regular roads, or where one side of the road has to take the brunt of the bulk vehicular traffic.
Whenever the Winter Session of Legislative Assembly is held in the city, it has certain collateral inconveniences to the citizens. Many roads are blocked for security reasons, while many others are blocked to accommodate the morchas.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Smarthna Patil had not only efficiently planned the entire movements, but she also ensured the smooth vehicular traffic with her well-trained and efficient staff.
