11:00 am: The Question Hour in Assembly on the Second Day of Winter Session being held in the city started with Leader of Opposition demanding discussion on various farmers’ issues under Rule 57. The farmers’ issues to be discussed pertained to injustice being meted out to them and waiver of ‘Sahukari Karz’ (Money-lenders’ loans).

The Speaker said that the listed agenda has to be discussed in today’s Question Hour and the discussion on farmers’ issues could be debated after the Question Hour. However, the Opposition leaders rejected the Speaker’s directive and rushed to the well of the House and started raising slogans.

The Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse who was present in the House said that the Ruling Party is ready for discussion. The debate could even be held now and at this hour as well, stated Khadse. The NCP leader Jayant Patil said that a detailed discussion could be beneficial for the ruling party and ‘sahukars’ as well. When the Speaker gauged the unrelenting mood of the Opposition, he adjourned the House at 11.10 am for 15 minutes.
