Custom officials apprehend passenger from Sharjah smuggling 3.5 kilograms of gold worth 74,61,000/-

Nagpur: Some people will go to any level to earn money through illegal means. In a similar incident, the Customs Officials deployed in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Nagpur International Airport apprehended a passenger arriving to Nagpur from Sharjah on Air Arabia Airlines G-9/415. The passenger was found to be smuggling gold 3.5 kilograms of gold worth Rupees seventy four lakhs, sixty one thousand (74,61,000/-).

According to sources, the customs officials could not find anything in the luggage. However, on a sheer doubt, they had carried out a detailed investigation and check. The passenger had a music player with head-phones on for listening to music. Finally on a doubt, they dismantled the music player to find that the passenger had made the gold into coils and had hidden them inside the music system.

The customs officials have since arrested the passenger for smuggling gold into India under sections of Indian Penal Code.
