Nagpur: For improving railway safety and operational efficiency, the Traction Distribution Department (TRD) of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has successfully installed online solar cameras on Foot over Bridges (FoBs) at 17 major stations.
These stations are Nagpur, Ajni, Khapri, Butibori, Sewagram, Wardha, Dhamangaon, Warora, Chandrapur, Ballarshah, Ghoradongri, Betul, Amla, Parasia, Multai, Pandhurna, and Katol,. These strategically placed cameras are designed to monitor the condition of pantographs on running trains in both UP and Down directions.
This innovative technology allows remote viewing of train movements and pantograph conditions at the Traction Power Control room. By providing real-time surveillance, the system enables early detection of any abnormalities in the pantographs of running trains. This capability is crucial for prompt investigation and resolution in cases of unusual occurrences or pantograph entanglements.
Additionally, the condition of the pantograph helps in identifying the specific section of the Overhead Equipment (OHE) where any damage might have occurred, enabling undertaking of quick rectification measures. The implementation of these online solar cameras is expected to significantly reduce train traffic detentions by enabling quicker and more accurate responses to potential issues. This advancement underscores the Central Railway’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability in train operations.
