CR’s Nagpur Division recovers Rs 1125 lakh from passenger travelling without tickets

Central Railway’s Nagpur Division undertook a special drive from April 1, 2014 to February 28, 2015 against without ticket passengers and unauthorized travellers. The special drive was undertaken at the directives of Divisional Railway Manager O P Singh and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr Sumant Deulkar. During the drive,  2,54,753 passengers were caught travelling without ticket or improper tickets and a staggering Rs 1125.95 lakh were recovered from them towards penalty and fines which is 12.2 percent and 16.6 percent respectively more than the corresponding period last year. Last year, a total of 2,27,098 passengers were caught travelling without tickets or improper tickets and Rs 965.64 lakh were mopped up.

In the break-up of the drive the Nagpur Division of Central Railway said that a total of 53,133 passengers were found travelling without tickets in the period from April 1, 2014 to February 28, 2015 and Rs 282.15 lakh were recovered from them. The figures are 34.9 percent and 52.1 percent respectively are more than the corresponding period last year. Last year, a total of 39391 passengers were caught travelling without tickets and Rs 185.47 lakh were reaped from them.

Similarly, a total of 1,71,670 passengers were found travelling with improper tickets in the period from April 1, 2014 to February 28, 2015 and Rs 805.86 lakh were recovered from them. The figures are 6.1 percent and 7.8 percent respectively are more than the corresponding period last year. Last year, a total of 1,61,814 passengers were caught travelling with improper tickets and Rs 747.31 lakh were mopped-up from them.
