Crime Branch nabs youth who kidnapped 7-yr old girl from temple in MP

Nagpur: In a significant action, Crime Branch of city police nabbed a youth who had kidnapped a 7-year old girl from a temple in Madhya Pradesh. The abducted girl has also been rescued and handed over to her parents.

The arrested accused has been identified as Rakesh alias Lallu Santosh Tiwari (23), resident of Chhivla, Tehsil Mangama, district Rewa (MP).

The facts of the crime are that the complainant Shivlal Ramkishore Saket (45), along with his wife Sushila Saket and 7-year old daughter, all residents of Misirgava, district Rewa in MP, had gone to pilgrimage town of Maihar for darshan of Maa Sharda Devi around 10 am on March 5, 2019. Both Shivlal and his wife Sushila were purchasing puja material in the crowded place.

Taking advantage of the situation, the accused lured their 7-year old daughter and took her away. On seeing their daughter missing, Shivlal and Sushila searched her frantically but in vain. Finally, they lodged a complaint with Maihar Police Station in Satna district. After registering a case, Satna and Rewa police launched a search to trace the girl as well as the abductor.

The Madhya Pradesh cops scanned CCTV camera installed in the Maihar temple premises and spotted a man wandering suspiciously. Armed with the CCTV footage, Satna police contacted Crime Branch in Nagpur and informed them about the incident. Acting on the information, the sleuths of Crime Branch Unit 3, under the guidance of DCP Nilesh Bharne, mounted a search for the accused kidnapper. Cops searched Ganga Jamuna area, Itwari Railway Station, Nagpur Railway Station, hotels and lodges in Santra Market, Mominpura, Ganeshpeth and other areas.

After the painstaking investigation and searches, the sleuths of Crime Branch Unit 3 on March 26 received a tip-off that the suspect accused is working in Mominpura-based Bartania Hotel. Acting swiftly, the sleuths rushed to Bartania Hotel and started probe. Police came to know that the accused Rakesh alias Lallu Santosh Tiwari was working in the hotel since the past three months but had not come for work since 3 days.

After seeking more details, the Crime Branch sleuths laid a trap at a house in Yadav Nagar area of Yashodhara Nagar police jurisdictionand detained the accused at around 12.30 in the night. After the intense interrogation, the accused Rakesh Tiwari confessed the crime and informed police that the kidnapped girl was sent to Rewa with his aunty two days ago. After getting the information, the Crime Branch API Bhedokar informed Satna police about the development. Acting on the information, Satna police detained the aunty of accused Rani Tiwari and rescued the 7-year old girl. A team of Satna police also reached Nagpur on Wednesday and took the accused Rakesh alias Lallu Santosh Tiwari in their custody. The accused was taken to Satna on the same day for further investigation.

The Crime Branch Unit 3 of city police played a major role in arresting the accused kidnapper and rescuing the victim girl.
