Crime Branch cracks Rs 4 lakh robbery at MSEB bill center within hours, 5-member gang nabbed

Nagpur: In a major success, Crime Branch sleuths arrested a robber and detained a juvenile boy within four hours of Rs 4 lakh dacoity at a MSEB electricity bill collection center. An amount of Rs 1.84 lakh has been recovered from them. The arrested accused has identified as Prafull Prabhakar Padole. The identity of the juvenile boy has not been disclosed in accordance with the law. Later, all the members of the gang were reportedly apprehended.

According to details, the complainant Piyush Prakash Deogade (22), resident of Telangkhedi, Ramnagar, was accepting amounts of electricity bills from consumers at the MSEB bill collection center located at Plot No. 17/A, Hill Road, Gandhinagar on Tuesday. At around 1.50 pm, the gang of robbers knocked door and called Piyush to open it.  As soon as Piyush opened the door, the robbers threw chili powder in his eyes and started thrashing him. The gang members also grabbed an amount of Rs 4,03,870 from the drawer of the center and fled the spot. Piyush immediately iformed Ambazari police who in turn alerted the Crime Branch. The sleuths of Crime Branch swung into action and nabbed one of the robbers Prafull Prabhakar Padole (28) and detained a juvenile delinquent boy within four hours of the robbery. An amount of Rs 1,84,160 has been recovered from them.

In the meanwhile, another report says that other members of the gang were also apprehended later on Wednesday. The arrested robbers have not been identified.

The action was initiated by Ambazari PI Anil Katkade, Crime Branch PI Balasaheb Khade and their other team members under the guidance of Commissioner of Police S P Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police Rajvardhan, Addl Police Commissioner Shrikant Tarvade, Deputy Commissioners Ranjankumar Sharma, Deepali Masirkar and ACP Nilesh Raut.
