Crime Branch cop killed in hit-and-run accident in Civil Lines

accident-policeNagpur: A Police Constable attached to Crime Branch was killed on the spot when the motorcycle he was riding in was hit by an unidentified four-wheeler in Civil Lines area on Thursday night. The four-wheeler driver sped away after the accident and is being hunted.

The deceased Santosh Radheshyam Yadav (28) was driver in the Crime Branch. On Thursday around 7.30 pm, Santosh Yadav was proceeding towards Civil Lines on his motorcycle (UP-72/AE 5335). When the Police Constable reached opposite State Bank of India, a recklessly driven four-wheeler rammed his motorcycle with forceful impact.

As a result, Santosh lost balance and crashed on the road and suffered critical injuries. The Crime Branch cop died on the spot even before medical help could be provided to him. Shocking part of the tragedy is that the four-wheeler driver fled the spot along with vehicle without bothering for the fate of the policeman.

Sadar PSI Sode, based on a complaint lodged by Ghanshyam Somnath Tiwari (53) of Zingabai Takli, has booked the unidentified driver of the four-wheeler under Sections 279, 304(A) of IPC read with Sub-Sections 177, 184 of Motor Vehicles Act and launched a hunt to apprehend him.
