Crime Branch busts sex racket in Kalamna, arrests two women; girl rescued

Nagpur: Social Security Wing of Crime Branch on Monday busted a sex racket and arrested two young women on the charges pushing girls into flesh trade. One girl victim was rescued and sent to rehabilitation home. Cops did not rule out more arrests in this connection.

The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police received a tip-off that a woman named Neha was in the business of luring young girls with money and provoking them for flesh trade in Bhavani Nagar area of Kalamna. The tip-off further informed that the accused Neha used to drop the lured girls at another woman’s house and the woman, identified as Chameli, would make available rooms for the girls to carry out the flesh trade there. After confirming the tip-off, a team of policemen led by Senior Police Inspector B M Powar raided the place and deatined the two accused women Neha Shankar Chatterjee (26), resident of Plot No. 25, Ramna Maroti Nagar, Nagpur and Chameli Human Sirmor (28), resident of Bhavani Nagar, Punapur Road, near Mansi Flour Mill, in Kalamna area. The team of Crime Branch also rescued a girl on the spot and sent her to rehabilitation home. Preliminary probe revealed that the two accused women were running the sex racket and for their own financial benefit luring the needy girls with huge money. The lured girls were later pushed into flesh trade.

The Crime Branch booked the two accused women Neha Chatterjee and Chameli Sirmor under Sections 3, 4, 5, 7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 and placed them under arrest.

The operation was conducted under the directives of S K Tarvade, Additional Police Commissioner, Crime Branch, DCP Deepali Masirkar and ACP Nilesh Raut.
