Nagpur: Commissioner of Police (CP) Bhushan Kumar Upadhyaya has decided to shift the CP Office to MT Section of the police department in order to facilitate construction of the new building for the office.

As per information, Director General (Housing) Bipin Bihari has also given green signal to start the work of shifting CP Office to MT Section. The engineer concerned has also been informed about this and the shifting is expected to start within next two days, but it will take four to five months to shift the entire CP office to the MT Section. Construction of the new Police Bhavan will start only after office is shifted.

The proposed new CP Office building was sanctioned last year itself and Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had done bhumipujan for the same in March. The construction work will be started only after demolishing the old building of CP Office. For this, it was necessary to shift the CP Office temporarily to some other place. Previous CP Vyankatesham had made up his mind to shift the office to old Fire Services College and had also installed a board of CP Office there.

New CP Bhushan Kumar Upadhyaya inspected the Fire Services College but found the MT Section more appropriate for shifting the office. The cost of shifting office to MT Section would be same as that to Fire Services College, but MT Section is part of the police department and setting up of infrastructure there would be useful for the department even after the CP Office is shifted to the new building.

The new Police Bhavan, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 98 crores, will be a seven-storey building equipped with advanced technology and system. The new building will also have offices of the Deputy Commssioner of Police (DCP) and Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural.
