In our country where the rate of working men is more than working women, even one step towards helping a lady gain her own recognition and work can prove to be of great contribution. One such contribution came forth recently.
COWA – Consortium of Women Architects was launched by renowned architect , women’s right campaigner and conservationist Ar. Brinda Somaya in the presence of Ar. S Deshpande, Dr Chakradeo, Principal of Smt. Manoramabai Mundle College of Architecture and a host of dignitaries. A website of COWA was also dedicated by her on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Ar Somaya brought out the importance of architects in building an inclusive society and contribution of women architects to the profession. She praised the efforts of the institute to initiate a platform for women architects to help them to keep themselves updated with the latest in profession and help them in finding avenues of earning even if they choose to work from home.
Students and Alumnus of Smt. Manoramabai Mundle College of Architecture together formed a beautiful set of attendees. Alumnus from all over India turned up at the venue. The students left no lose ends in welcoming the guests. Towards the end, the song ‘badal pe pao hai’ sung by the students as an inspiration, enlightened the aura.
