Nagpur: A Young couple committed suicide by jumping into Futala lake on Wednesday. The lovers had tied their hands together before jumping into the lake.
The deceased were identified as Chetan Vinod Mhetre (23), a resident of Binaki Mangalwari, Yashodhara Nagar, and Bharti Moti Kelwadkar (17), a resident of Shanti Nagar. The couple had been in relationship for last few years, said police.

However, family members of the girl were against the relationship and were mounting pressure on Bharti to end the relationship. When it became difficult to bear the pressure from their families, the couple decided to commit suicide together.
Police Inspector Bhimrao Khandare of Ambazari police Station suspected that the couple might have taken plunge into the lake on Tuesday morning. “Their hands were found tied with blue-coloured odhni,” said PI Khandale.
The bodies were fished out on Wednesday morning. On the basis of complaint by Sonu Kashinath Badwe, police registered a case of accidental death.
