Nagpur News: Gandhisagar ward Corporator Harshala Sable and her husband Manoj Sable held a novel protest in a boat at the lakeside, against corruption and money laundering in the cleaning and beautification project of the lake.

The State Government had given Rs. 1 crore 75 lakhs for the cleaning and beautification of the lake two years ago. NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation) had also given in Rs. 20 lakhs for the project. No prominent work has begun yet. It has been three months since the expiry of the tender for removal of garbage, and the banks are still strewn with garbage.

Corporator Harshala Sable told Nagpur Today, “Citizens come to the lakeside for exercise, yoga, morning walks and fresh air, but they have to deal with stench and pollution instead. A filtering machine had been installed, but it has been non- functional for years now. It causes more harm than good”. She accused the corporation of being in denial and ignoring the numerous problems related with the lake.
