Cops raid under-construction building, arrest 10 gamblers in Nandanvan

Nagpur: Nandanvan police on Sunday raided an under-construction site and arrested ten persons indulging in gambling and betting. The cops seized bunch of playing cards, other gambling material and mobile phones from the possession of arrested persons.

A team of Nandanvan police, acting on a tip-off, raided the under-construction site in Parvati Nagar, Kharbi around 4.15 pm on Sunday (March 22). The raiding cops found the ten accused Vikas Subhash Nikhar (28) of Shrawan Nagar, Rupesh Dinesh Satpute (24) of Lakadganj, Dinesh Laxman Narvale (21), Moreshwar Jagannath Chandekar (25), Prakash Tulshiram Barapatre (36), Nishant Namdevrao Pathak (22), Arvind Damodhar Kumbhare (24), Govind Mangal Umredkar (25), Jagdish Fakirchand Fulchand (28) all residents of Old Mangalwari, and Rakul Gajanan Pendam (22) of Garoba Maidan, Lakadganj, busy in playing cards and gambling. Following frisking of the ten accused the cops seized bunch of playing cards, cash of Rs 21,100, nine mobile phones worth Rs 37,000 and other gambling material collectively worth Rs 59,600.

All the ten accused gamblers were booked under Sections 4, 5 of Bombay Prevention of Gambling Act and were placed under arrest.

The raid was carried out by PSIs Manish Wakode, Yogesh Ingle, Constables Ramesh Chikhle, Kishore Malokar, Sachin Gauri, Kishore Garware, Deepak Tahekar under the directive of Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Kadam.
