Cops of Crime branch nab 5 accused from Chhattisgarh

Nagpur: In what could be termed as systematic and patient investigation, police personnel of Crime Branch Unit-3 managed to nab five accused from Chhattisgarh. The accused were brought to Nagpur on December 2, 2016.

According to police sources, there were two burglaries which occurred in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Mankapur Police Station and Yashodara Nagar Police Station.

The first burglary occurred on April 9, 2016 from 2:30 pm in the house of Yelluparavit Kuruvilla Thambi aged 68 years and a resident of Ramkrishna Nagar Mankapur. 37 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 70,000 was stolen from the almirah in his house. The burglar had stolen the goods when the victim was sleeping in his house. A case was registered in Mankapur Police Station under Crime No 53/16 under Section 395 of Indian Penal Code.

The second burglary occurred on April 10, 2016 from 2:45 pm to 3:15 pm in the house of Rajesh Gajanan Sonkusre aged 35 years and a resident of Plot No 6, Sharda Housing Society, Ramvatika, Bhilgaon, falling within the jurisdiction of Yashodara Nagar Police Station. 60 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 1,40,000 was stolen from the almirah in his house. A case was registered in Yashodara Police Station under Crime No 69/2016 under Section 395, 397 and 452 of Indian Penal Code.  In all the burglars had stolen gold ornaments in all worth Rs 2, 10,000/-. The cops of Mankapur Police Station and Yashodara Nagar Police Station jointly.

During the course of investigation, after understanding the entire modus-operandi and the crime scene API Bhedodkar of Crime Branch (Unit-3) and his staff came to a conclusion that this particular crime must has been committed by goons from neighbouring states including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The cops established contacts with the cops of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The cops of crime branch kept a constant touch with their counterparts in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This yielded positive results and it came to fore that the accused had committed a crime in Isam-Dhamtari area in Chhattisgarh in the same modus-operandi and the cops of Chhattisgarh had arrested the accused.

When the cops of crime branch went to the Isam-Dhamtari Police Station and got details of the crime committed then, it became confirmed that the accused were the same gang who had committed the crime in Mankapur and Yashodara Nagar area.

The cops of crime branch got the protection warrant issued for the accused and were brought to Nagpur following all legal formalities.

The accused are identified as follows

  • Veeru Mangala Chauhan aged 40 years and resident of Palinda District, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh
  • Prakash alias Rakesh Chandan Salunke aged 44 years and a resident of Rahul Nagar, Police Station Satara, District Aurangabad.
  • Sandesh Annaji Rokade aged 46 years and a resident of Chakki Khaya, Near Militrary School, Bokara Koradi Road, Nagpur.
  • Anil alias Anaya Yuvraj Pimple aged 40 years and resident of Ashok Nagar, Police Station Shrirampur, Ahmednagar.

The gold ornaments which the gang of burglars stole was allegedly sold to a jeweler at Sonaroli, Itwari, Nagpur by Anil alias Anaya Yuvraj Pimple. Similarly, during investigation the accused confessed to the other burglary committed in Yashodhara Nagar and Mankapur area. The cops recovered 60 grams of gold ornaments stolen from the house in Yashodhara Nagar.

The entire investigation was undertaken under the directions of Commissioner of Police Dr. K Venketesham, Joint Commissioner of Police Santosh Rastogi, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Ranjan Sharma and Assistant Commissioner of Police Nilesh Raut by the personnel of Crime Branch (Unit-3) including Police Inspector Vaibhav Jadhav, Assistant Police Inspector D M Bhedodkar, Head Constable Shailesh Thawre, Suresh Hingnekar, Shatrugna Kadu, NPC Manish Bhonsle, Atul Dhawande, Shyam Kadu, Feroz and Sharif.
