Cops foil dacoity in Nandanvan, arrest 2 gang members, hunt on to nab 3 others

Nagpur: In the wee hour swoop, Nanadanvan police foiled a dacoity plan and arrested two members of a gang. However, three other members managed to escape the police and are now a subject of massive manhunt. Lethal weapons likely to be used in the dacoity have been seized from the arrested accused robbers.

A team of Nandanvan police, led by PSI Mahendrasingh Thakur, was on patrol duty in the wee hours of Tuesday. The patrolling team, around 0330 hours spotted a gang of five suspicious persons gathered near a gents parlour in Raut Nagar on Umred Road. The cops surrounded them and asked the reason for assembling at odd hours. However, instead of resonding to the poser of the cops the five persons started fleeing the spot. The cops, after a short chase, succeeded in nabbing two of the members of the gang but three others managed to escape. The two nabbed accused persons are identified as Shubham Indrapal Waghmare (19) of Raut Nagar and Sayyed Shahrukh alias Shahbaz Sayyed Jalil (22) of Motha Tajbagh. Frisking of the two accused led to recovery of sword-like sharp-edged weapons and other material that was likely to be used in the dacoity the gang was planning to commit.

Nandanvan API Kanse has booked the two accused under Sections 399, 402 of IPC read with Section 4+25 of Arms Act and placed them under arrest. A manhunt has been mounted to nab the absconding other members of the gang.
