Cops foil armed dacoity, arrest 4 members of gang in Panchpaoli

Nagpur: Panchpaoli police on Tuesday evening foiled a dacoity by arresting a gang of four robbers including an externed criminal in a swift action. Cops have seized arms and other lethal material from the arrested desperadoes. A search is also mounted to nab one accomplice of the gang.

Cops received a secret information that certain suspicious elements have gathered at a secluded place near Shaitan Chowk, Vaishali Nagar, with the intention of committing a dacoity. Acting on the information, a team of policemen rushed to the spot and surrounded the gang of suspicious persons. When asked about the reason for assembling at the spot, the gang fumbled and could not provide satisfactory answers.

Suspecting a foul play, the cops frisked the gang members and found two large rusted knives, chili powder, a rope, iron cutter and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle. The seized arms and other lethal material clearly pointed out the dacoity plan being hatched by the gang. The goons were immediately taken into custody and whisked away to Police Station.

The arrested members of the gang have been identified as Akash alias Tingya Ishwar Pantaone (23), resident of Vaishali Nagar, Deepak alias Khatya Manohar Jhamre (27) of Barse Nagar, Surat Sunil Kaore (22) of Bezonbagh Slums, and Ashish Yadavrao Choudhary (23), resident of Gautam Nagar, Bezonbagh. However, an accomplice of the gang named Bhurya managed to escape from the spot. Interestingly, Akash alias Tingya Ishwar Pantaone was externed for his criminal activities in the past but still managed to come to the city and was planning an armed robbery.

Panchpaoli API Keche has registered offences under Sections 399, 402 of IPC read with Sub-Section 4+25 of Arma Act and Sub-Sections 135, 142 of Mumbai Police Act against the arrested gang members.
