Cops crack theft, arrest woman with booty

Ganeshpeth police have succeeded in cracking a house-breaking case within no time.
According to police, unidentified burglar(s) had struck at the house of Priya Gupta (34) in Mahal area between June 20 and June 24 when she had gone out of station. The goon(s) had decamped with cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 2,11,500. A complaint in this connection was lodged at Ganeshpeth Police Station and the police were investigating the matter.

During the investigation, the police received a tip-off and on the basis of that information, detained a woman Shahin Anjum Nasim Akhtar (33), resident of the same area. After a sustained grilling, Shahin spilled the beans and told the cops that she prepared a duplicate key of Priya Gupta’s house and stole the booty. Police have recovered valuables worth Rs 1,88,000 from Shahin’s possession and placed her under arrest.
The action was carried out by PI Avinash Shilimkar, PI Sunil Mahadik, PSI Mangesh Desai, constables Shailendra Thakur, Kuldeep Petkar, Manish Bhosle, woman police constable Prarthana Suryavanshi under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Sunil Kolhe and Assistant Commissioner of Police Nilesh Raut.

It may be recalled, Nagpur Today gad flashed a report titled: “Thieves strike locked house in Mahal; slip away with Rs 2.11 lakh booty” wherein it was reported that unidentified thieves broke into the house of Mahal resident Priya Gupta and decamped with booty worth Rs 2.11 lakh.
