Cops arrest two thieves from Nandanvan area

Two thieves were chased and arrested by the patrolling police on Sunday night after they tried to loot a truck driver under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan police station.

The incident took place around 11.45 pm on Sunday. Raju Vyankatswami Virla (40), a native of Andhra Pradesh, parked his truck (AP 27 W 4833) in front of a petrol pump, in Dighori and slept in the cabin. At around 11.45 pm, two youths, identified as, Sabdar Husain Alisahab Sheikh (25) and Sheikh Irfan Sheikh Razzaq (24), both residents of Bada Tajabad, Gosiya Colony, Sakkardara, opened the cabin door and woke Raju up. They threatened Raju on a knife point and tried to steal the truck battery. Meanwhile, a patrolling van passing near the area became alert after hearing Raju’s shout for help. The van soon approached the scene, but the thieves soon saw the approaching police and ran away from the spot. The cops made a chase for the thieves and soon nabbed the two youths.

On the basis of the complaint by Raju, Nandanvan police have registered an offence under Sections 393 and 34 of the IPC and arrested them.
