Nagpur:
In a major twist to the incident in which decomposed body of a woman was found in police quarter in Gittikhadan, cops have booked her husband, a head constable, on the charges of causing her death negligently.
It may be recalled that the highly decomposed body of Sunita Arvind Pandey (50), resident of Police Quarter No. E/24/3 in Gittikhadan area, was found in her house on February 16. The husband of the deceased woman, Arvind Lalbachchan Pandey (54) is head constable attached to Ganeshpeth Police Station. At that time, Gittikhadan police had registered a case of accidental death and launched a thorough investigation covering all angles.

During the course of investigation, it came to the fore that Sunita was suffering from a mental disease since the past seven years. However, the accused Arvind Pandey, despite knowing his wife was a mental patient, he did not provide her medical treatment. On the contrary, Arvind left Sunita to her fate without lights in her room and even without food. He locked the house without bothering for Sunita’s miserable condition. The criminal apathy on the part of accused Arvind resulted in Sunita dying a painful death. Her death came to notice of nearby residents when foul smell started emanating from the police quarter where the accused Arvind had virtually detained his wife in utter negligence.

Based on the investigation report, Gittikhadan PSI V D Kedare has booked the accused Arvind Pandey under Sections 304, 342, 344 of the IPC. Further probe is underway.
