Cop attacked by 5 members of family over DJ in Shantinagar

Nagpur: A policeman was abused and manhandled by five members of a family including three women when he asked them to switch off the high decibel DJ being played in Shantinagar area on Wednesday night. All the accused have been booked.

Police Sepoy Jitesh Reddy was on duty at Shantinagar Police Station around 21.30 pm on Wednesday. He received information that a DJ was being played at Premnagar, Lodhipura in high pitched decibel causing nuisance to the nearby residents. Acting on the information, the policeman went to the spot and asked the accused named Nikhil Suresh Verma, Nutan Suresh Verma, Khushbu Suresh Verma, Urmila Santoshsingh Verma, Pawan Santoshsingh Verma and their 3-4 unidentified accomplices to shut the DJ. Enraged by the cop’s directive, the accused hurled abuses in filthy words and also manhandled him. The accused warned Jitesh Reddy of dire consequences for his “interference” in the DJ playing.

Shantinagar ASI Sheikh has registered an offence against the accused under Sections 143, 147, 149, 353, 294, 506, 186 of the IPC and probing the matter further.
