Nagpur:
The State Election Commission, in a move to act tough against code violators during NMC poll, has launched “COP” (Citizens On Patrol) mobile app. With this “COP” the citizens can keep a hawk eye on contesting candidates and political parties regarding violation of mode code of conduct. If the citizens find the candidates or parties indulging “nasty acts” then they can lodge complaint with SEC along with photographs.

Complaints regarding code violation by candidates flood the SEC during the election process. However, people were forced to run from pillar to post to register their complaints. But now, the “Citizens on Patrol App” will make it for them to directly file complaints to poll panel.

Complaints regarding candidates violating code of conduct such as luring voters with promises plank, pressuring voters, seeking votes on the basis of religion etc could be filed directly to SEC.

Citizens can also file complaints regarding code violation by candidates and political parties through Whatsapp. City Police Commissionerate has also set up a Code of Conduct Cell in Police Control Room. The Whatsapp number of this Cell is 8055472422.
