Conman from TN dupes many city traders of Rs 21 lakh

Nagpur: A conman from Tamilnadu cheated a number of traders dealing furniture and electronics goods to the tune of Rs 21 lakh by placing orders and defaulting payment.

One of the complainant traders, Prashant Gangadhar Ingle (30), resident of Jankinagar, Manewada, told police that he owns Bhandari Enterprises situated at 55, Jaisitaram Apartment, Queta Colony. He and other traders deal in furniture and electronics goods in wholesale. The accused, Subramanyam Venkatesh Mudliar (44), native of 30/11, Bank Colony, Madhavaram, Tamilnadu, took Prashant and other traders into confidence and placed orders for purchase of furniture and other goods worth Rs 20.90 lakh between 25.9.2017 and 25.10.2017.

Believing the accused, Prashant and other traders supplied the ordered goods to Mudliar. In return, the accused Subramanyam Venkatesh Mudliar issued a post dated cheque of the amount to be encashed after 16.10.2017. However, the cheque bounced. Realised that they were cheated, Prashant registered a case with Lakadganj police in this regard.

ASI Anthony has booked the accused Subramanyam Venkatesh Mudliar under Section 420 of the IPC and searching for him.
