Congress demands longer period of State Budget Session to discuss burning issues

Nagpur: The Congress Legislative Party has demanded the Fadnavis Government to extend the period of Budget Session till April 29. The demand was raised by Leader of Opposition in Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil in a meeting of Legislature Business Consultative Committee held at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai on Tuesday. The Budget Session is commencing from March 9 and the sittings will for 23 days.

Vikhe Patil said that at present the State is facing several burning issues including farmers’ suicides, draught situation and remedial measures, inflation, law and order situation etc. “The period of 23 days will be insufficient for discussions on such crucial issues. Moreover, discussions are also to be held on Budget. In this background, there is need to extend the Budget Session till April 29,” stressed the Leader of Opposition.

Meanwhile, the Coordination Committee of Congress Legislature Party held a meeting at Vidhan Bhavan to draw its strategy during the Budget Session. The meeting was attended by MPCC President Ashok Chavan, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, former MPCC President Manikrao Thakre and several other party leaders.
