Nagpur: Congress leader Sharad Ranpise demanded a discussion on the deaths after demonetisation in the state assembly on Friday. Presenting the adjournment motion in the House, Ranpise demanded a debate on the issue. Supporting the motion Bhai Jagtap of Congress termed the issue as sensitive while pointing out Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement – ‘Na Khaunga Na Khane Doonga” (Neither will I do corruption nor will I allow it). He alleged that these words carry a great deal of corruption into it.
The moments saw some unruly scenes in the House in which the Opposition showed placards to the ruling party members.
Following the chaos, Speaker Ramraje Nimbalkar then adjourned the House for 10 minutes. Later the opposition members raised anti-government slogans.
Talking to media, Ranpise said that it has been announced to make Maharashtra cashfree but the farmers are the worst sufferers in this rabi season. “Neither they are getting suitable price for their produce nor they are getting buyers,” he said.
He also pulled up the government saying that on one hand farmers are forced to face miseries, while on the other Rs 10 crore in cash is seized from Tilak Nagar in Mumbai. He alleged that the cash belongs to an MP in Parli Baijnath.
“When we are asking to discuss on the issue, we are being stopped. Similarly like our leader Rahul Gandhi is being stopped from speaking anything,” he said.
