Nagpur: A con woman systematically duped several outstation girl students to the tune of Rs 9.61 lakh by promising them a host of facilities including hostel, food, snacks, Wi-fi, solar heater etc. The accused woman took the amount in cash and issued bogus receipts as well. No facility was provided to the girl students and thus they were cheated. Moreover, instead of returning their money, the girl students were abused and threatened when they demanded their money.
The accused has been identified as Ketki Jayant Thakre (30), resident of Flat No. 305, Aishwarya Residency, Rajendra Nagar, Hingna Road in MIDC area. The accused unauthorizedly ran a girls hostel named Saraswati Girls Hostel near CRPF Gate, Hingna Road. Ketki allegedly promised a host of facilities including hostel, food, snacks, Wi-fi, solar heater etc to the girl students staying in her hostel. In return, the accused took a total of Rs 9.61 lakh from the girls over a period from 1.7.2016 to 17.1.2017. However, not a single facility was provided by the accused Ketki Thakre and thus betrayed the girls.
Moreover, when the girl students demanded return of their money, Ketki abused and threatened them of dire consequences. After realizing they were duped, one of the girls registered a case against the accused with MIDC Police Station.
API Gaekwad has booked the accused Ketki Jayant Thakre under Sections 406, 465, 504, 506 of the IPC and launched an in-depth probe.
