College student steals two-wheelers to “impress” girlfriends, arrested

Nagpur: This college student found stealing motorcycles the ‘easiest way’ to “impress” and “treat” his girlfriends. But his luck ran out when a patrolling squad of Pratap Nagar Police Station chased and nabbed him with a lifted motorcycle.

The patrolling squad of Pratap Nagar police, led by Head Constable Manoj Joshi, was on duty on Monday night. The squad spotted a suspicious youth riding a Yamaha bike (MH-31/EH 3918) in great speed. The cops chased him and intercepted him at a distance. When asked to produce papers of the bike, the accused youth named Aniket alias Kali Ajay Uke (19), resident of Hingna Road, Simtakli, MIDC, confessed the bike stolen. He also told police that the number plate has been tampered with. Upon his confession, Aniket was placed under arrest.

On custodial interrogation, the accused revealed lifting of four two-wheelers – a Yamaha FZ, two Honda Activa and one Suzuki Access from different parts of the city. The accused said he is a college student and lifted the vehicles to “impress” and “treat” his girlfriends.

The arrest was made by a team of cops led by Senior PI Shivaji Gaekwad and comprising PI Dnyaneshwar Patil, API Sachin Shirke, Head Constable Manoj Joshi and constables Vidyadhar Bakshi, Ashish Kshirsagar, Abhishek Hardas, Dharmendra Yadav, Siddharth Khandare under the guidance of DCP Zone 1 Deepali Masirkar, and ACP (Sonegaon) Dr Ashwini Patil.
