CM to open grand ‘Mahila Melava’ in city on Feb 21

Nagpur: In a move to ensure overall development of needy people from rural areas, make them self-sufficient and also empowerment of women, a grand ‘Mahila Melava’ is being organized to highlight various Government schemes as well as schemes of Rashtriya Gramin Jivannoti Abhiyan ‘Umed’ and Dindayal Upadhyay Rural Skill Development Scheme. The ‘Mahila Melava,’ being held at Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on February 21.

The event will be presided over by Pankaja Munde, Minister for Rural Development, Women and Children Welfare and Employment Guarantee Scheme. The chief guest of the function will be Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who is also Minister for Energy and Non-Conventional Energy. Other dignitaries who will grace the programme include Mayor Pravin Datke, all MPs, MLAs, MLCs of Nagpur District. In the ‘Mahila Melava,’ various beneficiaries will be distributed with running capital under NRLM, loans to Self Help Groups through nationalized banks, Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana etc.

Self Help Groups of economically weaker sections are formed through Rashtriya Gramin Jivannoti Abhiyan ‘Umed’ for making them self-sufficient by way of facilitating them set up smaller industries, skill development etc. Around 15000-20000 women are expected to attend the ‘Mahila Melava.’ A fleet of 400 ST buses will be deployed to transport the participants free of cost.
