Nagpur/Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed Sweden to help in the project of smart cities in the State as they are important from point of environment. He was talking to the Swedish President of Smart cities and IVL Assodiation’s Vice- President Östen Ekengren on his visit to Varsha CM’s residence. On this occasion Industries Minister Subhash Desai, Swedish Environmental Research Institute’s Manager of Business Development and Marketing Rupali Deshmukh, Town Development Division’s Joint Secretary Pandurang Jadhav and Executive Director Seema Dhamdhere were present.
Chief Minister further said, stress is being laid on generating electricity from the waste water and garbage while developing smart city. He informed that the work of generating electricity from the garbage is going on in Pune. There is also a plan to implement this project in Mumbai and Nagpur. He asked Sweden to help in the planning and implementing this project.
Expressing himself Industries Minister Desai said, the Industrial environment should be well kept There is a need to recycle the water bottles and to keep vending machines of water bottles at public places and ministry.
Östen Ekengren expressed his willingness to work for ‘Make in Maharashtra’. He said the work of recycling has been completed 98 per cent in Sweden and now, the stress is on reprocessing waste water and generating electricity from garbage. He informed that their IVL company will stresses on modern technologies in development of smart cities.
He thanked Chief Minister Dervendra Fadnavis for taking an initiative in cooperation between state Government and Swedish Government.
