Nagpur: Amid the nationwide furore over the safety of students in schools in the light of broad day light murder of a 7 year old student Pradyuman Thakur in Ryan International School in Gurugram, an incident that happened in Nagpur’s Narayana Vidyalayam has not only baffled the school authorities but has also raised apprehensions among the minds of parents.

NT has learnt that a class-IX student at city’s presitigious school Narayana Vidyalayam was caught with hookah in his classroom. The section D student was noticed by his class teacher when he was hiding hookah behind the curtain of the classroom window during her period on Friday. However it eventually fell down and alerted the teacher. Later the class teacher brought the incident to the knowledge of school Principal Mala Chembath, who further summoned the parents of said child.

Moreover the principal also suspended three more students of same section in connection with the incident. Sources informed that the boy had ordered hookah from ecommerce site Amazon as he had allegedly planned to smoke hookah along his three other friends from the same section. On the fateful day, the boy had reportedly carried hookah in his bag and later hid it behind the window curtain. The initial questioning from the said student led him to reveal the names of other students also, following which the principal suspended them for three days. The parents of these students were also called in school, sources added.

When Nagpur Today tried to contact Narayana Vidyalayam school authority, they did not respond to our calls.
