Nagpur: Nagpur based famed industrialist Arun Lakhani will be contesting in the upcoming legislative council election for Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli seat from BJP and will be appointed as Member of Legislative council.
Souces told Nagpur Today that his name came up as candidate for the legislative council polls. A meeting was also held on Saturday in which Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Guardian Minister of Wardha-Chandrapur District Sudhir Mungantiwar, was prominently present. Lakhani’s name was believed to have been unanimously decided in the meeting.
Arun Lakhani is known for his works in Vidarbha. As a multi-dimensional business personality Lakhani’s interest is also diversified into social activities. He worked in tandem with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other party leaders as well.
Sources added that RSS has also given a go ahead for Lakhani’s name.
Lakhani’s inclination towards social works made his position as the strong candidate for the legislative council seat. Lakhani is expected to file his nomination on Tuesday or Wednesday. The last date for filing of nomination is May 3.
