nit1Nagpur: Activists of Nagpur City Youth Congress on Tuesday resorted to “Halla Bol” agitation and stormed the office of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) to protest the anti-farmer Land Acquisition Bill of Narendra Modi Government. “The Land Acquisition Bill being thrust on people lacked transparency and thus creating confusion among poor, helpless people. The live example in this context was witnessed in Samaj Bhushan Society of Mauza Nari in North Nagpur.

Some land owners carved out plots and sold to people who were mostly poor labourers, widows, maids, and others. These poor people spent their lifetime income for a dream house. The land owners even formally prepared sale deeds but suddenly the Nagpur Improvement Trust issued notices to all the plot owners and informed them that the land is reserved for big road and a park. With these notices, the NIT is forcing the plot owners to vacate the land and harassing them on one pretext or the other,” said City Youth Congress President Bunty Shelke while leading the “Halla Bol” on NIT.

The activists gheraoed the Building Engineer North Nagpur Mohd Iqbal and also tried to meet NIT Chairman Shyam Wardhane.

Others who participated in the “Halla Bol” included Rakesh Nikose, Alok Kondapurwar, Pravin Pote, Chakradhar Bhoyar, Raynold Jerome, Swapnil Bawankar and the affected plot holders in large number.
