City gears-up for President’s visit

Nagpur: Almost every department is gearing up for the President’s visit to Nagpur. Having received consent from President Pranab Mukherjee to attend the 150th Foundation Day of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, termed as Shatakottar Swarna Jayanti (sesquicentennial) celebration, the NMC administration is engrossed in its preparations. The venue for the celebration will be Krida Sankul (Sports Complex), Mankapur.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation
Taking the opportunity of presidential visit to the orange city, the NMC authorities are working on war-footing in getting the entire city spruced up. The over-grown trees and bushes which over hangs on the road in which the President will be traversing is cut and cleaned.

Many pot-holes and stretches with poor-roads are being repaired, while pot-holes are being dressed with coal-tar dressings.

In view of the presidential visit, Commissioner of Police S P Yadav is personally over-looking the suitable security arrangements. A police squad including Joint Commissioner of Police Rajwardhane, DCP Latkar, DCP Tangde, Police Inspector Shivre (Traffic-West) and In-charge of Mankapur Police Station Police Inspector Bhatkar inspected the Krida Sankul premises to review the security arrangements. Sources claimed that the entire area will be completely turned into a cantonment during presidential visit.

Electricity Department
The electricity department has decided to replace the old and rusted electric poles on the road leading to the Sports Complex.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, In-charge of Mankapur Police Station Police Inspector Bhatkar told that there are 6 entry gates at the venue.

  1. One VVIP Entrance for the President and all the dignitaries who will be seated on the dais.
  2. One VIP Entrance for all MLAs, Corporators, Guests and Invitees
