    Chennai cops begin evicting Jallikattu protesters from Marina

    Chennai: The police on Monday began removing protesters from Marina Beach in Chennai.

    A large number of people demanding that the hosting of Jallikattu be allowed had been protesting assembled at Marina Beach.

    The protesters had refused to budge even after an ordinance allowing Jallikattu had been promulgated, stating that the solution was not a permanent one.

    News agency reported that some protesters began singing the National Anthem while they were being evicted by the police.

    The police had been telling the protestors, “Your goal is achieved; now end your protest and move.”

    However, the protesters said that they believed in the police, but needed time to discuss about the ordinance, demanded half day time.

    Following this the police action began.
